How Clean Are Broken Bow Cabin Rentals?

The short answerIt depends on the cabin, and it depends a lot. A well-run Broken Bow cabin gets a full clean between every stay, a deeper clean on a regular schedule, and fresh hot tub water. A badly run one gets a quick wipe and a hope for the best. Here's how we do it at our five cabins, and a five-minute check you can run on any rental before you pay.

Why cleanliness varies so much here

Most cabin stays are short. Ours average a little over two nights, so a cabin can turn over several times in a week. That means a lot of cleaning on a tight clock: late-morning checkout, 4 p.m. check-in.

Who does the cleaning, and how much time they get, makes all the difference.

How we clean our cabins

Every cabin has its own cleaner. Same person, every time. They know the place, and they notice when something's off.

Every stay gets a full turnover clean. Not a quick tidy. That covers the bathrooms, the kitchen, the floors, and the hot tub. Bedding is fresh every stay. We restock the basics. And every turnover includes a check for damage and for anything a guest left behind.

About once a quarter, each cabin gets a true deep clean, the kind that gets into all the nooks and crannies. We don't do that at every checkout. It takes too long to squeeze between guests, and I'd rather be honest about that than pretend.

And the hot tub water gets changed out every single stay.

What it looks like when a mess shows up

This September, a crew did repair work at one of our cabins. I could have assumed they'd cleaned up after themselves. I didn't. Before the next guest arrived, I sent our cleaner in to check, and to clean if it needed it.

It did. It wasn't up to our standards.

I'm glad I looked. That's how we think about it: cleaning isn't something we do after a guest complains. We check before anyone has a reason to.

What guests say

How to check any cabin's cleanliness in five minutes

  1. Read the last few months of reviews, not just the star score. Search the page for "clean," then for "dirty," "hair," "smell," and "dust."
  2. Check the dates. Great reviews from two years ago and silence since don't tell you much.
  3. Look at the photos for the unglamorous stuff. Beds, bathrooms, the hot tub. If a listing only shows the view, ask why.
  4. Ask the host one specific question. Something like, "How often do you change the hot tub water, and do you do deep cleans?" A good host answers fast and specifically. A vague answer is still an answer.

If something isn't right

Tell us right away. Then it depends on what you'd like. If you'd rather not be disturbed, I'll offer a credit or buy you a meal to make up for it. If you're open to it, I'll send a cleaner out to take care of the missed detail.

Either way, you shouldn't have to put up with it.

Frequently asked questions

Are your cabins cleaned between every guest?

Yes. Every stay gets a full turnover clean by that cabin's own cleaner.

How often do you deep clean?

About once a quarter. A deep clean gets into the nooks and crannies and takes much longer than a turnover, so it doesn't fit between same-day guests.

Do you change the hot tub water between guests?

Yes. The water is changed out every stay.

Is the bedding fresh for every guest, and do you restock supplies?

Yes to both. Bedding is fresh every stay, and we restock the basics between guests.

Do you check for lost items and damage?

Yes. Every turnover includes a lost-and-found check and a damage check.

Is it the same cleaner every time?

Yes. Each cabin has its own dedicated cleaner.

What's the difference between a turnover clean and a deep clean?

A turnover clean resets the cabin for the next guest. A deep clean is the occasional, much more thorough clean that reaches the places a turnover doesn't.

What if I find something that wasn't cleaned?

Message us right away. If you'd rather not be disturbed, we'll offer a credit or a meal to make up for it. If you're open to it, we'll send a cleaner out to take care of the missed detail.
